near tragedy almost struck

Well, the other day I turned on my desktop computer (aka: my computer with most of my files on it) and heard my main external hard drive randomly clicking in sets of two. Anyone with a cursory knowledge of hard drives knows that random clicks are bad bad bad. So lo and behold, the hard drive ceased to work and I lost almost all of my stuff.

Random mp3s (40-50 gigs worth), all my project files from Cakewalk and Reaper, misc downloads, backup of my only Windows XP cd among other things were all lost. Worst of all to those reading this blog (there are like 2 or 3 people who have read it since its inception), the most recently mixed Reaper project files pertaining to this album were also lost. Its okay though, because I have the earlier tracks on my laptop, and I just have to remix them and such. Also, I have to pull out all the files from older projects and re-mix those.

I try not to worry about it, but damn, shit never ceases to go wrong.
