After spending nigh on a full year neglecting the site and working on the album, we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. In fact, we're expecting a complete album by the end of the summer! 90% of the recording is finished, with only a few loose ends to wrap up. Next comes the general mixing and mastering, of which a lot we'll do ourselves. Here's what you can expect to hear on the next album:
- 5 tunes by Adam. Of them: a nice soulful Floyd-esque 6/8 tune, another 6/8 tune called Out of the West Wood, and Manhattan Neon, a big band sounding tune.
- 4 tunes by me, Bryan. One is a bluesy shuffle tune, one is heavily inspired by Floyd and another that is a straight up jazz ballad.
- 2 tunes by the band. Monkey's Hat and Stonewaltz are funky tunes and are really our best tunes for getting the blood pumping.
- 1 more tune by Chris. This one is still heavily under construction, but its a cool sounding round at a fast clip with a swing feel.
We're also on the prowl for more live gigs, so keep your ears and eyes peeled!

We just spent 6 hours Sunday at Mansion Studios here in sunny Columbia, MO and boy was it a good time. Bruce and Adam are both great, super knowledgeable and I highly recommend them. We laid down 4 takes of The Monkey's Hat, 4 takes of Don't Have A Chance and 3 takes of Manhattan Neon.
One great thing about mansion studio is their huge selection of instruments. Jay got to sit at a vintage Hammond B3 (I'm jealous) and we haven't yet decided if he played the hell out of it or it just makes everyone sound so much better (us included). I got to strum a Gibson ES-135 for our jazzier tunes, and try out a Marshall Bluesbreaker (sounds great of course). Chris and Anthony sounded great, and were hidden from us in the other roomas Adam, myself and Barcroft played in the main room.
In short, we all sounded great and got some really nice recordings. I have the Sonar session files on my computer, but without the awesome plugins from Bruce, looks like we're starting fresh again.
